There will be several Good Friday services around town. I am unaware of any Maundy Thursday services but you might want to attend one of the Good Friday services. They will be advertised in the Hendersonville paper.
Don't forget, there will be no Sunday evening services over the next three weeks. The choir will be rehearsing at 4:45 for the next two weeks as will the girls' dancing troupe. It will be important for our young ladies to be sure and be at these rehearsals. Also, our sewing class is beginning. See Sister Jane for more info.
Do you know what neuropathy is? Its a disease of the nerves. All of us diabetics have to be very aware of losing touch and sensitivity in our extremities. The Bible speaks of a similar malady. It is called 'past feeling'. Now, I have joined the chorus of many who have encouraged saints to not build their faith on their feelings. What our chorus has neglected too often is that God has given you feelings. The pop culture would encourage you to use your feelings to make decisions. That is truly a dumb idea. According to Jeremiah, our heart is deceitful and desperately wicked.
What do we do about feelings? I would suggest you enjoy them. There are those who try to hold feelings in check so that nothing hurts them but if nothing gives you pain nothing can give you joy. We've invested billions in pills that insulate us. God gave you nerve endings so that they would be of use to you. If it is burning - get your finger out of the socket! Feelings are a useful gauge but not a useful direction finder. Find joy, love and peace and enjoy them. They are God's personal gift to you. Oh, and accept the pain hurt and heartache because they are God's gift to you as well.
May God richly bless you and your family this week.
Pastor and Adrell Stacey
